A young dad in our congregation has been on an organ transplant list for a new liver for over 2 years. He just got the call that a liver is available for him. He is on his way to Salt Lake City, Utah. His wife is in California and will be making a flight as soon as possible to join him for the surgery. Please pray for Thad and Jill that this transplant is accomplished and recovery and renewed health will be successful for this young couple.
Thank you. Susan

Yes, we pray this young father and husband has the opportunity to raise his children, and be a Godly partner for his wife.

It's wonderful news that an organ is available! I pray his body accepts it and all goes well.

Latest (7:30 am MST) is he is in SLC and waiting for the organ to be ready; seems to be a perfect match. Jill is on her way and may be there now. Will keep you updated as I get information.
Please pray for the donor and her family also. Thanks for all prayers and keep sending them up.

Thanks everyone! Here's the latest:
Thad went into surgery at 2 this afternoon; Jill made it there in time. Everything is still looking good with surgery proceeding ahead of schedule. Should be done between 10-12 tonight. Continue your prayers for medical excellence and good recovery.

PRAISES! Rejoice for this is a day the Lord has made!
His surgery went very, very well, they finished in 8 hours. Jill got to Salt Lake City around 11am yesterday. Thad is in ICU and will probably remain there until Sunday. He will need to stay in the hospital about 10 (I'm betting less, what do you think?)
Keep holding him up, I'm sure these first few days are going to be pretty tough on him.

One of my prayer warriors reminded me to share this praise:
Thad got out the hospital a week after the transplant (way ahead of schedule). He has to stay within 20 minutes of the hospital for 6 weeks. He and Jill found a place to stay and are just wiling away the hours waiting to come home, which they really, really hope to be in time for Christmas - what a Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday this is for them! The kids are doing great also. Several friends have made the trek down to Salt Lake to visit and spend time with them. His small group have done lots of things to help them out. They say he looks great - even his fingernails are pink again and his sense of humor is wicked. I just know we'll have a hard time recognizing him when he gets back - we've never seen him not jaundiced and in feeling really good. It will surely be a huge blessing when he comes home and walks into church for the first time. Since the news of his transplant and amazing recovery was greeted by a spontaneous round of applause, I'm sure there will be great rejoicing when he finally comes home. Of course, prayers are still needed for him to continue his recovery and not have any rejection episodes; also, for debt and financial recovery. As you can imagine, costs are astronomical and with them both being away from work for 8 weeks or so, the burden is straggering. A donation account has been set up for anyone to help out financially.
