| Yes, a SSH is a horse that is gaited and has pinto markings, they can be any gaiting breed.

| If you have registration papers then definitely you can call the registration office and find out more about his lineage. The only SSH name I recognize is Spotted Alen Again. If you google him, you can see his lineage. Sometimes you can also find some info from allbreedpedigree .com Look for some of the ancestor names that are on the papers.

Some spotted saddle horses are mixed breeds and some are registered in other purebred registries. For example, my SSH is also a registered TWH.

| Call me silly, but that doesn't make sence to me. Are they saying that an SSH has to be 1/2 TWH with spots to be registered? I know there are registries for Morab and Quarabs but I didn't know about gaited horses.

My SSH mare does NOT have one ounce of TWH blood in her. She is registered with the National Spotted Saddle Horse Assoc. Inc.
My SSH colt from this mare his sire is a registered Missouri Foxtrotter. My colt is registered as a NSSH too.

| So my understanding the is: any, spotted properly, horse with a gait, qualifies? My mare is registered MFT. She is dapple gray with white legs to above her knees and white splashes along her neck and white face from ears to nose and wider than her eyes. Does this mean she would qualify as a spotted saddle horse also? Registries can be soooo confusing.

My mare is a Morgan x Pinto. Neither of her parents are registered with the SSH.
tennw - I had to take a video of her and the colt gaiting to register her and the colt. The sire of the colt is a MFT but is not registered with SSH he is solid.
ssecmft - She sounds like she would qualify. Fill out the registration, send in pictures of her, maybe a video if they want it.

I was just trying to make sure I understood the discription right. I personnelly wouldn't go to all the trouble. She will never be bred as long as I own her. It is kinda fun read about though and learn. She'll just be my cute, little, chubby, gray horse with a gait.
